Two more charities celebrate support from Murphy Salisbury’s Activity Fund

Murphy Salisbury’s Activity Fund has supported a number of good causes in and around the accountancy firm’s offices in Warwickshire for more than half a decade.

Now two more organisations, in the form of North Cotswold Cycling Club and Arrhythmia Alliance, have received donations to help fund their projects.

The North Cotswold Cycling Club, based in Morton-in-Marsh, contacted Murphy Salisbury for funding to help with its goal of getting more under 16’s to ride their bikes competitively and give them the skills to ride with a cycling club.

It runs a number of British Cycling Go Ride events from March to October, which it has been holding for two years. However, now intends to use the funding to reach out further to the community and offer more places at each event by funding more coaches and equipment.

Andrew Bray Youth Development officer at North Cotswold Cycling Club said “the benefits will last for years” and would help “children leave each session with a big smile on their face”.

The other group to benefit from the firm’s Activity Fund, Arrhythmia Alliance, will use its funding towards the purchase of an automated external defibrillator (AED) in Stratford-upon-Avon outside of the town’s leisure centre so that will be accessible to the community at all times.

Julie Fear, Patient Services and Database Manager, said that the emergency life-saving device could be used by anyone to help restart the heart, which could be essential in the event of Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA) – a condition that kills 100,000 people in the UK every year.

She added that the Alliance was, “dedicated to raising awareness and encouraging more placements and access to Defibrillators.”

Murphy Salisbury’s Activity Fund has donated money to a number of local sports clubs and organisations since it was launched.

It aims to encourage people across the generations to engage with and participate in a range of different activities, enabling them to live active, healthy and interesting lives.

Mark Bullock, Director at Murphy Salisbury said: “We are delighted to be supporting these two fantastic causes with their worthy projects. Our fund offers up to £500 to local charities and organisations to help them make a difference to communities near to our office in Stratford-upon-Avon.

“I am under no doubt that the money provided to North Cotswold Cycling Club and Arrhythmia Alliance will be used effectively to support people with their goals of becoming healthier and more active.”
